Organic Natural Soap - Olive Oil with Thyme
This traditional olive oil soap has a range of health benefits for your skin, and also supports an impressive initiative in Palestine! This soap is famously known as Nabulsi Soap because the city of Nablus to the north of Palestine is famous for making high quality olive oil soap.
Palestinians have been growing olives for over four thousand years, and today we are still using the same traditional methods. Olive oil is a natural moisturizer and this recipe creates an exceptionally gentle and moisturizing soap, appreciated most by those with sensitive and dry skin. The olive oil soap is unscented, great for the body and as well as the face. It is also blended with thyme leaves that improve skin tones due to their antioxidant effects.
Our soap is made by Aseela, a group of women in Bethlehem who worked together to create a sustainable income for them and their families in Palestinian refugee camps and rural villages. Aseela's mission is to create high quality olive oil products that embody their unique palestinian heritage. The women take the components of everyday Palestinian life- spices, herbs, olive oil, and flowers, and create something unique for a wider audience. It is our pleasure to help them to sell their goods to domestic and international markets.
After more than a year of researching, collecting seed money and equipment, building the cooperative structure, and repeating trials and errors of the soap-making, Aseela began producing their first product - the Pure Olive Oil Soap - in the spring of 2006. Although it is more costly than residual oil, commonly used by local soap-makers, Aseela insists on using only the eating- quality olive oil.
You should also check out out soap dishes that are handmade by a women's cooperative in Nisf Jibel, a tiny village above Nablus. They can be found in our Home and Kitchen section.

What if I want to ship to a U.S. address?
You're in luck, our products are actually stored in California, so you're only paying for U.S. domestic shipping. But before that, processing takes a few days on our side before our volunteer in California gets your package to the post office.
Domestic shipping takes 3-5 days depending on shipping destination. Once orders ship, we'll email you a confirmation with tracking (for domestic) or customs (for international) numbers.
It is your responsibility to track and, if necessary, follow up with customs to get your package.
How much does it cost?
Shipping rates are automatically calculated at checkout based on product weight.
Sometimes your package might incur extra costs at the customs of your country depending on the value and type of items. Please note that we have nothing to do with these costs, and it depends on your country's customs. Nevertheless, we sign the value of the items in your package at cost so you don't pay a higher customs charge. (International orders only)
Where else do we ship to?
We ship via USPS. Shipping is available to most countries, let us know if your country is not included and we will add it :)
Additionally, we offer international shipping* options from Palestine, in case you are interested in a handicraft that isn't available in our online collection or in custom orders.
What happens if I put the wrong shipping address or don't my package out of customs?
No problem! Your item will be sent back to us, and you will need to cover shipping cost.
What are the shipping options from Palestine?
Registered Post takes from 10-20 days. Price will be calculated at check out based on weight. Registered post can only be tracked until it leaves the post facility in Occupied Palestine.
Eco-Post takes up to 10 days. Price will be calculated at check out based on weight. This option allows for tracking package until arrival at destination.
EMS (for any orders greater than 2 kilos) takes from up to 10 days. Price will be calculated at check out based on weight.
We ship from Palestine on Sundays and Wednesdays. So orders placed by Saturday or Tuesday are sent out the next day.
Why did I pay more than the amount on the shipping label?
Please know that there are other costs before we get to shipping. When you receive your package, you'll notice that the shipping cost on the box is not the same as what you paid. We have to get items from the cooperatives all over Palestine and then ship to you. Thank you for your order, your patience, and your support!
*some countries are excluded from Palestinian shipping options.
