Tahriri Is Here + New Blue Laptop Sleeve... PLUS Some Favorites Are Back!
We’ve been working on a few things behind the scenes, and we’re really happy to finally share them with you.
One of the things we’ve been most excited about is Tahriri.
A little about Tahriri
If you’re familiar with Palestinian embroidery, you’ve probably seen tatreez — but Tahriri is something a little different. Tahriri (also written as Tahari) is a traditional Palestinian couching embroidery technique, originating mainly from Bethlehem and Beit Jala.
Instead of creating designs with rows of counted cross-stitches like tatreez, Tahriri uses a cord or thread that is laid onto the fabric and carefully stitched down. The result is raised, flowing embroidery with lots of beautiful detail. It’s one of those techniques that’s even more special when you see it up close. We love it!
NEW: Tahriri Brown Pouch
Our brand new brown and orange Tahriri stitched pouch with contrasting deep green. The Tahriri embroidery adds so much detail to a simple, yet handy product.
NEW: Blue Tatreez Laptop Sleeve
They’re the kind of pieces we love at Handmade Palestine — something useful, made by hand, and connected to a Palestinian tradition.
PLUS...These favorites are back!
We’re really happy to say that some favorites are finally back. Our tatreez keffiyehs have been restocked.
And our olive wood kitchen utensils are back too, along with a few other pieces in our full collection.
We’re always grateful for your patience when things sell out — and for continuing to support the Palestinian artisans, makers, and small businesses behind the pieces we bring into the shop.
It means a lot to us and to them!
