Celebrating Artisans: Manjel Ma Qoud, supporting women craft makers in Palestine

This past Monday was World Youth Skills Day.

Recognized since 2014, this day underscores the importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship. The 2024 theme, "Youth Skills for Peace and Development," highlights the crucial role of youth in peace-building and progress. Amidst severe challenges, such as the war in Gaza, which has led to systematic attacks on the young and their schools and universities, the daily violence against Palestinians, especially the frequent unlawful detention of young children in Israeli prisons, and economic inequality, it is essential to empower Palestinian youth. Providing them with the skills necessary to build a more just, inclusive, and sustainable future is critical. This effort includes passing down traditional skills from generation to generation to ensure the preservation of Palestinian culture and heritage.

At Handmade Palestine, we’re proud to work with the talented artisans of Manjel Ma Qoud. This vibrant group of Palestinian creators is revitalizing traditional skills and bringing fresh, innovative designs to the forefront, showcasing the dynamic role of youth in preserving and enhancing cultural heritage.

Join us in celebrating the creativity, innovation, and dedication of Manjel Ma Qoud on this special day dedicated to empowering youth through skills development.
