Celebrating Turath Day & New, Restocked Items

Turath Day in Palestine is one of our favorite moments of the year. It’s a celebration of turath — our living heritage — the music, stories, embroidery, and crafts that keep Palestine’s culture alive and connected.

Across the country, people gather in schools, cultural centers, and homes to share traditional food, wear embroidered dresses, and remember the skills passed down through generations. It’s a beautiful reminder that heritage isn’t something we keep in a museum — it’s something we make, with our own hands, every day.

At Handmade Palestine, we see turath in the work of every artisan we collaborate with. In the careful mosaic tiles placed one by one in Bethlehem, in the tatreez patterns stitched by women in village cooperatives, in the olive wood carved smooth by hand — each piece carries a story of endurance, creativity, and connection to the land.

Handcrafted Gifts, Freshly Restocked

Just in time for Turath Day, we’ve restocked some of our most-loved handcrafted pieces — and added something brand new for little ones, too.

Micro Mosaic Jewelry

These tiny treasures are finally back! Each pendant and earring is made with hand-cut glass tiles, carefully placed to form delicate floral and geometric designs. Mosaic art has been part of Bethlehem’s craft tradition for centuries — and every piece keeps that heritage alive.

Tatreez Tea Towels

We’re so happy to have our beautiful set of two embroidered tea towels back in stock. The rooster motif is one of our favorites — a traditional Palestinian symbol of morning and renewal. Each one is hand-embroidered by women artisans using traditional tatreez stitches, blending functionality with cultural heritage.

They make thoughtful, meaningful gifts for anyone who loves handmade textiles or Palestinian art.

How to Celebrate Turath Day

There are so many simple, heartfelt ways to honor Palestine’s heritage this week:

Wear your favorite piece of tatreez or mosaic jewelry.

Share the story behind a handmade item you love.

Cook a traditional meal with family or friends.

Read an Arabic story with your kids.

Or simply take a moment to appreciate the artisans who keep these traditions alive with their hands and hearts.

With Gratitude

Turath Day reminds us that heritage isn’t just what we inherit — it’s what we choose to preserve and pass on.

We’re endlessly grateful to the artisans who share their craft with us, and to you — our community — for choosing handmade, for choosing Palestine, and for helping this living heritage continue to thrive.

Happy Turath Day from all of us at Handmade Palestine.
