Art from Palestine: Prints from Zawyeh Gallery
Zawyeh Gallery is an important contemporary art space in Palestine — a Ramallah-based gallery dedicated to exhibiting and promoting Palestinian visual art, and to making that art accessible to audiences inside Palestine and across the diaspora.
The art prints we carry at Handmade Palestine are produced from the Zawyeh Gallery collection, bringing works by some of Palestine's most significant living artists into homes around the world.
The Artists
Nabil Anani is one of Palestine's most celebrated painters, known for his richly layered canvases that draw on Palestinian folk motifs, tatreez, and the colours of the land. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in collections across the world.
Tayseer Barakat works in a more abstract register — his paintings are dense with texture and mark-making, exploring memory and loss in forms that resist easy narrative. His Mediterranean Crossing series speaks directly to Palestinian displacement without illustrating it literally.
Nasser Soumi and Fouad Agbaria bring their own distinct voices — Soumi's work centred on Jerusalem's landscape and architecture, Agbaria on village life and the everyday textures of Palestinian existence.
Why Prints Matter
Art prints make fine art accessible. For diaspora Palestinians who want original Palestinian art on their walls but cannot buy at gallery prices, a high-quality print is both meaningful and achievable. For non-Palestinian supporters of Palestine, a print by a Palestinian artist is a more considered act of solidarity than a slogan — it puts Palestinian creative vision into your home, and Palestinian artists' work into your daily life.
Zawyeh Gallery ensures that the artists receive a fair share of every sale, and that the prints are produced to a standard that does justice to the originals.
