6 Ways to Support Palestinians

When you see injustice, you have to do something. Over the years, people have often asked us, "What else can I do?"

Beyond sharing posts, beyond feeling overwhelmed by the news, beyond wanting to help but not knowing where to start.

So we created a simple resource that anyone can access with a quick scan: 6 practical ways to support Palestinians and strengthen Palestinian communities. No one person can do everything. But together, small actions add up.

1. Give Gifts That Create Impact

When you purchase from Handmade Palestine, you're doing much more than buying a gift.

Your purchase helps artisans generate income, supports Palestinian families and communities, preserves cultural heritage, contributes to the local economy, and helps plant trees through our projects. If you're looking for a meaningful gift, explore our curated gift bundles or send a gift voucher and let someone choose their own favourite piece of Palestine. Gift-giving can be an act of solidarity.

2. Support the Work of Living Roots

Many of the projects we support are made possible through Living Roots, our 501(c)(3) nonprofit partner.

A small recurring donation can have a lasting impact, helping sustain artisan livelihoods, agricultural projects, educational initiatives, and community-led development across Palestine.

One simple challenge: consider making a monthly contribution and invite three friends to do the same. Collective support is what makes long-term work possible.

3. Get Involved Locally

Supporting Palestine doesn't have to happen from a distance.

Across the United States and around the world, local groups are organizing educational events, advocacy campaigns, cultural programs, ethical purchasing initiatives, and community gatherings.

Organizations such as the Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA) can help connect you with local networks and opportunities to get involved. Some people even choose to join delegations to Palestine to learn directly from communities on the ground.

4. Adopt an Olive Tree

Olive trees are deeply connected to Palestinian culture, identity, and livelihoods.

Through our Adopt an Olive Tree program, you can help support farming families while contributing to the care and cultivation of olive groves in Palestine. It's a simple way to create a tangible connection to the land and the people who nurture it.

5. Boycott: Collective Action Matters

One of the most powerful tools available to ordinary people is collective economic action. The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement encourages consumers to make informed choices about where they spend their money and which companies they support. No individual action changes everything overnight, but when thousands of people make intentional choices together, it creates real pressure and real impact. If you're interested in learning more, the BDS Movement website offers guidance, and apps such as Boycat and No Thanks can help identify companies connected to boycott campaigns.

6. Buycott: Support Palestinian-Owned Businesses

Boycotting is only part of the story. We also believe in buycotting—actively choosing to support Palestinian-owned and ethical businesses whenever possible. Every purchase is a vote for the kind of world we want to build.

Alongside Handmade Palestine, there are many wonderful Palestinian brands and organizations doing important work, including Palestine Online Store, Palestinian Hustle, Deerah, NOL Collective, Sunbula, and many others.

When we support Palestinian businesses, we're investing directly in creativity, entrepreneurship, livelihoods, and cultural resilience.

Start With One Thing

Sometimes people look at a list like this and wonder where to begin. Our answer is simple: pick one thing:

Buy a gift. Adopt a tree. Join a local group. Make a donation. Share a resource. Support a Palestinian business.

Then invite three others to do the same. That's why the QR code is on our shirts. It's not just a design feature—it's an invitation. An invitation to learn, to connect, and to take action in ways that are practical, meaningful, and rooted in community.

Because solidarity grows when we share it.
