Honoring World Biodiversity Day: Why We Do What We Do

Today is World Biodiversity Day—a time to pause and honor the incredible richness of life that surrounds us, and to reflect on how we protect it.

At Handmade Palestine, biodiversity isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a way of life. It's in the ancient olive trees that shape our landscapes, the medicinal plants rooted in Palestinian tradition, and the way we farm, craft, and live in rhythm with the land.

One of the core reasons Handmade Palestine exists is to support Mashjar Juthour, our nonprofit nature reserve in the hills of Ramallah. At the Mashjar, we’re working to conserve Palestine’s native biodiversity by protecting natural habitats, planting indigenous trees, and teaching environmental stewardship to local youth.

This land isn’t just beautiful—it’s alive. And we believe in honoring it with every action we take.
