Meet the Artisan: Mashjar Juthour
At Handmade Palestine, we believe every craft tells a story — not just in skill, but of heritage, culture, and connection to the land. Mashjar Juthour is one of our most meaningful projects, combining conservation with the preservation of traditional knowledge about Palestinian nature and agriculture. We sat down with the team behind Mashjar Juthour to learn more about their work and what it means to our community.
Can you tell us what Mashjar Juthour is and why it was founded?
Mashjar Juthour started as a conservation project with a simple but powerful goal: to protect and replant Palestinian trees while sharing knowledge about sustainable agriculture and our local environment. Over time, it became about so much more than planting trees — it’s about keeping traditional practices alive, educating communities, and giving people a tangible way to connect with the land.

How does your work connect to Handmade Palestine?
At Handmade Palestine, we love supporting artisans and projects that celebrate heritage. Mashjar Juthour is part of that vision. Through our collaboration, we’ve created a line of educational resources and crafts that teach children and adults about trees, wildflowers, and the agricultural traditions of Palestine. It’s a way to make learning hands-on and meaningful while supporting local conservation.
Can people get involved even if they’re far away?
Absolutely! One of the most popular ways is through our Adopt a Tree program, available on the Handmade Palestine website. When you adopt a tree, you’re directly supporting reforestation efforts in Palestine while learning about the land, its seasons, and traditional cultivation practices. It’s a gift that gives twice: you support the environment and the local community.
Why is sharing traditional knowledge so important?
We want to keep Palestinian culture alive in every sense — not just through crafts, but through the ways people have lived with the land for centuries. By teaching communities about agriculture, wildflowers, and sustainable practices, we hope to inspire a new generation to care for the environment and understand the value of heritage.
How can our community support Mashjar Juthour?
You can support by adopting a tree, exploring our educational craft kits, or simply spreading the word. Every purchase or adoption goes toward sustaining the project, empowering local farmers and artisans, and ensuring that traditional knowledge continues to thrive.
Mashjar Juthour is more than a conservation project — it’s a bridge between heritage, education, and action. By participating, you’re helping preserve Palestinian culture and the land itself, one tree at a time.
