Pomegranate Notebook and Why It Means So Much to Us

At Handmade Palestine, every product we create or curate carries a story — of heritage, resilience, and artistry. That’s why our new Pomegranate Notebook feels especially meaningful.

For years, we’ve had the honor of working with artist Lois Nakhleh, whose life’s work has been dedicated to studying and painting Palestine’s wildflowers. Her art has not only deepened our appreciation for the beauty of this land, but also reminded us how fragile and precious these native species are.

When Lois entrusted us with her collection, we knew we wanted to share it in a way that could reach more people. Our first-ever original notebook design features her lush pomegranates, a fruit that has always symbolized abundance, resilience, and the richness of Palestinian culture. Holding this notebook in your hands means carrying a piece of Palestine’s heritage with you — whether you’re jotting down daily reflections, sketching, or making lists.

Why Pomegranates?

For Palestinians, the pomegranate is more than a fruit. It’s a symbol of life, continuity, and rootedness. Its seeds, clustered together, speak to community and resilience — values we hold close at Handmade Palestine. That’s why you’ll find pomegranates woven throughout our collections, interpreted through the hands of different artisans.

Here are a few of our favorite pieces:

Each of these pieces carries the same symbolism as our notebook — connecting beauty, tradition, and resistance through art.

Lois’ paintings extend beyond pomegranates. Her Wildflowers of Palestine Collection has become one of our community favorites, available as art prints and gift cards. They’re perfect for sending a note of solidarity or framing at home.

The Pomegranate Notebook is more than stationery — it’s a bridge between art, heritage, and everyday life. By choosing it, you support local artists and celebrate a symbol deeply rooted in Palestinian identity.

This holiday season and beyond, we invite you to carry Palestine’s beauty and resilience with you — whether through a notebook, a piece of jewelry, or a simple handwritten card.
